Selectmen's Meeting, September 17, 1996
Present: James Haggerty, Chairman, Judith Murdoch, Peter Jones, Charles Flynn, Catherine Kuchinski present, but left due to illness.
Meeting convened at 8:00 p.m.
Interviews conducted as follows:
8:00 - Michael Casey
8:25 - Keith Sweeney
8:50 - Michelle Melia
9:15 - Kevin McCarthy
9:40 - Paul O'Brien
Discussion ensued concerning appointments. Chief King made statement regarding the process which had been followed and asked the Board to keep in mind his recommendations and rankings of the candidates.
Board members spoke expressing their satisfaction with the interview process and the candidates and also discussing the Town's desire to hire a female officer. Motion 9/17/96-1: made by Peter Jones, 2nd by Judy Murdoch to appoint Michelle Melia to the first open position which is recognized currently as a non-grant position. 4-0 vote.
Board members offered comments concerning their second choices. Motion 9/17/96-2: made by Judy Murdoch, 2nd by Charles Flynn to appoint Michael Casey. Vote 3-0-1 (Jones abstained)
Motion 9/17/96-3: to adjourn at 10:30 p.m. by Murdoch, 2nd Jones. Voted 4-0.
